Last night may not have been the best time to try some of our new tactics, but I think it worked out pretty good. There were a lot of bright spots in the game. Yes, it was a little disorganized at times in the back trying to get all the defenders to “pull” the trap, but eventually, I think they could see the benefit. Especially, in the 2nd half when the sidelines referee was doing a better job of catching the WO players in an offsides position.
Bravo is to the point where we have to start using some of these types of tactics in order to neutralize what other teams are trying do. Some might question trying this in a GAME, before we’ve had a chance to go over it in PRACTICE. I might agree with them except for the fact that we have some exceptional athletes on Bravo, not to mention an extremely intelligent bunch of girls.
I think with the limited introduction to the offsides trap and the new formation, Bravo did an excellent job of implementing these tactics into the game. Much better than I thought we would.
Now we just have to refine them a bit and get someone on the field to pull the trap instead of me or Kim yelling it from the sidelines.
On Thursday, we’ll see if we can refine these tactics a little and get ready to play Phoenix. Keep in mind that Phoenix uses an offsides trap in their tactics and they use it very well, so we’ll get a chance to see how they implement it into their game as well as learn how to neutralize it.
Here is a short article on how to beat the offsides trap. If you read through it, you’ll see why our trap worked so effectively against WO.

Incidentally, I was very, very pleased with our bounce back from the championship game in DM. I was a little worried that we would play very tired, but the demands of the new tactics and your determination didn’t let that happen. Nicely done Bravo!

Hey guys great tournament! We really hustled out there. I noticed in the second half of the finals and against Rat Pack that we were losing energy . . . fast. I wondered why? Was it not eating right between games, or was it what we did in the hotel last night which i thought was the most relaxed we have been in a long time at a hotel. So to get to the point what should we eat between games John? So that we can get to our top playing mode. I know it is not all about the food, but how well you are prepared for the game but i am pretty sure eating right may help a tiny bit in the long run. I know some of us were complaining of aching stomachs and headaches, but maybe just maybe if we relax, know what to eat, and be mentally prepared for all of our games we can be on the top ALL of the time!!!!!! So my question is what do we eat between games to give us energy that we need????????????????

PS. We played great in this tournament Bravo!!!!!!!!

Ya well since no one is posting anything on the blog (wink wink… Kristyn…) I decided to post something.
First of all… HELLO!!!!
I was just wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on John’s decision to cancel practice. Was it good, bad, or both that we had no practice today??
Also, what is the latest new on the movie and dinner, Mia. There has been conversations on this topic and I was wondering what is going to happen this weekend regarding this topic.

I’m sure everyone knows that this will be a very tough game today, but we’ve had some very good practices this week and I think we’ll do very well if we play like we practiced.
At yesterday’s practice, I talk to you about not getting complacent with your skill development. Your at the age when it’s easy to say “I’m as good as I want to be, because to get any better will take a lot more work, and I don’t want to spend that much time working on just soccer”.
It’s really quite normal for girls your age to come to this conclusion; especially when you consider you’ve been playing soccer for many years now.
I want to encourage you to look at your soccer careers as just getting started instead of somewhere in the middle. You’ve got many years of playing a head of you if you continue to set goals for yourself and measure yourself periodically against those goals. If you achieved all your goals already, then set new goals for yourself. Don’t ever take the position that you’re as good as you can possibly be… If I would have asked you two years ago if you thought you could be this good, what would you have said?
I have a lot of confidence in the players on this team and I know that you can do even more than I ask you to do. The big, big question is, can you MAKE yourself do it? This says a lot about the kind of person you will turn out to be when you reach your adult career. I encourage you to think carefully about this and talk to your parents about it.
I hope everyone has a great game today… we’ll probably need your best.
